How to Make 1 2 3 4 Cake?
1-2-3-4 cake is so-called because the initial ingredients are required in those very amounts. This is an old Victorian recipe, updated for modern cooks.

Beat in the yolks of 4 eggs and the vanilla.

Sift and add flour, baking powder, and salt alternately with the milk, beating after each addition.

Fold in 4 stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour batter into a lightly greased and floured. Fill 2/3 full.

Bake for 1 hour at 375ºF/190ºC or until cake springs back when touched. Before removing from pan, allow cake to cool for 10 minutes. Place on a wire cooling rack to cool completely after 10 minutes.

Decorate. When cool, dust with confectioner's sugar. This cake is best served with pieces or fruit compote.
